Besides going to a bar, what are you supposed to do with friends?

Going bowling seems to be the cliche choice for social activity, along with going to a sporting event or concert.

Escape Rooms have become the future for social engagement among friends, as they continue to appear across the country.

You’ve probably seen them and probably have raised an eyebrow passing by. If you’re still clueless, an escape room is a place with rooms designated to different puzzles that you must solve to escape and win the game – hence the term escape room. Each room has clues to unlock the mystery that you must solve, and many have rooms dedicated to different themes based on trending films and television shows.

Some escape rooms – like ours – have original puzzles for your group to solve that are sure to make you think a little bit on your day off from work or school.

So why should an escape room – hopefully, ours – be the next place you visit with friends?

Blogger Amanda Cade makes exceptional points when it comes to choosing an escape room.

Her first point is simply that they’re a great social activity because they require you to work in a group of people. She says, “I’ve played with just my friends, with a few of my friends and a few people I didn’t know, and once, when I felt the urge to play and no one I knew wanted to join me, with a team of complete strangers. Regardless, teamwork is an essential part of the activity.” When thinking about it, an escape room may actually serve as a way to make friends if you decide to team-up with others. Regardless of who you play with, you’ll most likely walk out of the escape room talk

ing about it among each other for the entire day or night.

Another point he makes is that escape rooms offer different things that everyone will enjoy. Not everyone is a mathematician, so math problems in escape rooms won’t make you enjoy your time. However, escape rooms offer other puzzles than something challenging like adding figures, even when often times the challenge level can be reduced. Some puzzles require you to match up words or pictures, which you may find yourself skillful at.

Amanda Cade says,  “What’s cool about escape rooms is that they aren’t completely geared toward one type of thinking. Some tasks are about manipulating pictures, while others hinge on solving word puzzles or riddles. Some require spacial awareness or manual dexterity.”

“The point is that there are so many puzzles that no matter where your particular niche is, there’s a distinct area where you’ll be able to contribute,” she adds.

When conversing in group chats with your friends about where your next get together will be, give an escape room a shot. Prices to rent a room aren’t typically too costly, and they allow you to try something new.

Parents can also appreciate escape rooms for kids and young adults because they require peers to work together, which can help build teamwork skills for their future.

Still not convinced? Why not stop in and try it for yourself!
